Greetings All

It’s break time, yes for all those that do not know, this Thursday is a public holiday, National Women’s Day!!!!

Guys you can’t complain, it gives us another day to get out and ride!
Spoil the ladies in your lives, bring them to Giba for our famous cappuccino and chocolate cake, And while they are enjoying themselves you could set out for some sweet single track, hooray for holidays.

Also this week we have the Mongoose Schools Series here at Giba Gorge on Saturday afternoon. No doubt all the Giba Groms will have home advantage and should clean up. Check out below in Park News for more details.

Looking Down
Full Frontal

The 2 foto's of this drop on the Free Ride Trail need to be named and we are also looking for a blurb to go with it.

The BIG drop that leads into the Tree Huis on the top section of the Pure Adventure Wear Freeride trail is nameless.Name the drop and win a pair of Ergo Mtbike baggiesfrom Pure Adventure Wear. You don't have to be able to ride the drop to name it, accept if you want to call it by your own name, thenyou have to do the deed!!!
All suggested names are to be mailed to info@pureadventurewear.co.za before Wednesday 29th August 2007. All submissions will betaken into account and the winner notified by email on the 31 August 2007.

Illovo Classic, for those that missed it you missed out!
What an incredibly well run and organized event, a big shout out to Brett Austin Smith and Crew, well done guys a fantastic day was had by all!
It was great to see so many Giba regulars pushing their limits, especially the Giba Gals, some who did their 1st half and full marathons, well done also to the Groms, a whole stack entering and completing the 20km race, we are very proud of you guys.

This Saturday sees Giba hosting the Mongoose Schools Series in the afternoon.
Do not panic if you are a club rider or just want to come and ride, all the trails will be open as normal. We have designed a course that does not interfere with any of the other trails, so riding as normal.

Just a reminder that St Hillier's road has been closed to traffic, thank you to all those who have been re directed , it is much appreciated, especially knowing that you can now give it horns all the way down without having to worry about a head on with a car.

With the cold front hitting us, rain has been a huge welcome for the trails; washing away the dust and making the tyres stick instead of slide. You will also notice that we are in the process of upgrading and adding new trail markings and trail names. If you feel we have missed a point or you have gotten lost or misguided, please inform us so we can respond accordingly.

The Free Ride Trail is nearly finished. The Secondsection of the Freeride trail will becompleted by the 18 August.

This last section is something that you have never even thought you could do with a bike, like when last did you ride a see-saw? Now try it, with a bike!

Remember this is not for the faint hearted; make sure you have medical aid cover!

Round number 5 of the Mongoose Schools Series takes place this Saturday at Giba.
So Giba Groms you have home advantage, come and give the others carrots.

The course will have a river crossing and be very spectator friendly, so moms and dads can see their darlings in all their glory.

What an amazing bunch of Gorgeous Giba Gals! Well done to all those that went out and challenged themselves at the Eston Classic this weekend. For some it was their 1st ever mtb race and 20km was the target, others going into new territory of 40km and the rest doing a full marathon for the 1st time. The stories are already coming in thick and fast, cappuccino time is going to be fun this week.

As you know, this Thursday is our normal ladies out ride and also National Ladies Day, it was requested by the group that we still do a ladies ride but also invite all those ladies who usually work and don’t get to come down, to come and join us. So 8:30am on Thursday we will all go out for a National Giba Ladies Day Ride!

We have just had our second container arrive from our intrepid buyer, who has been travelling Africa, looking for special goodies to turn your house into a castle. There are some great new paintings that have also appeared, come check out the Aloe on white canvas, this won’t stay long, so come and see soon.

So roll on the long weekend and see you all in the saddle.
